Printed Perfection

after all my ranting about prints in contrast to bold solid colours

snippets of Eley Kishimoto's fall show
vintage-y, graphic, 70s prints in great moden cuts
why has springcome & gone so quickly? i do love the mix of fall and summer in that which is spring.
flowy, sleeveless, shorter, less layers in those deeper shades mixed with pale

Summer please arrive officially....

no more of this wishy washy shit. i want sun and fun soon. i know its not actually summer yet, and spring has been bleak behind the sporadic (albeit heavy) rainstorms. but i prefer when the sun peaks out from the sky and shines on me, and i take that moment to stop, feel the breeze and breathe.
and in support of my cause, i will show my fav shape for graphic coloured sundresses. i don't know the technical term, but i want to say they are empire waisted reverse racerback tank dresses. theses colours are delicious, but couldn't you see the shape is a whimsical print? can't wait until the may flowers start to bloom tomorrow...

ROCKSTAR Boyfriend

"promise me nooooo waterworks....."

About- Think Niles Drink
the debut album is called Bongo. the boys are from Amsterdam. they were HUGE at southXsouthwest. they are on tour with the Fratellis&30 seconds to mars. *seriously how can you resist a show now?* they birth every note of every song lovingly through their precious computers. the product is not only highly danceable but the lyrics are contempletive & thoughtful. can't say that for much electronic musik out there can you? enjoy!

p.s. their site http://www.whataboutabout.com, how cute is that!

grace slick

since the percipitation crept outta the past few days of sun saturated skies in manhattan, i was tricked into thoughts about raincoats. honestly, they are usually ugly and plaid lined, masculine cut trenches. *except when i was 5, and i had the most adorable pink slicker ever* BUT then i saw this beauty...
all my preconceived notions about proper and available rain attire went out the window. the modernity. the large collar, the tulip skirt, the winged sleeves. equates the ideal jacket for weather that is not so ideal.

since, i am dreaming of a gorg coat i sadly may never own, i may as well add in the dream outfit additions to complete the apparition. first and foremost, a totally glam, completely impractical navy*midnight waist-cinched westwood frock to flash from underneath the trench

a marc jacobs sleak, sturdy and practical tote to hold my junk (and since its slightly patent the water will just roll off)

and i'll throw in these totally weather inappropriate ribbony (i know its not a word, but maybe it should be) delightful stilettoes to take my rainy day look OVER THE TOP!

you've got lips i could spent a day with...

this song has been playing on repeat in my head all day long, thought i'd share- so now it can play over & over in yours tomorrow

amy millan- skinny boy
the frontwoman of Stars, the fab canadian indie band, has a solo album.
i am in love.
this song is about the lonely side of love, with a focus on a slender male, it was written about every man i have ever been attracted to. *sigh*
her lyrics are fresh, honest and sweet as cotton candy. add her voices melancholy undertones of loneliness and unrequited love and you have these unique & lovely tunes. check this lady out, she is one to watch.

always art inspired

feeling very artsy and aching for visual stimulation, my outfit of the day
is dreamlike and colorful, drawing from modern grafitti and linear primary art, victorian delicacy and ancient asian influences...
enjoy ms. westwood's delicate dress with pop cape

in hand, this c.dior whimsical mandarin-esque quite lady like bag is delectable

and to top off the outfit, well actually bottom off, mondrian-inspires plats
they are genius!

Outfit of The Day

a delicious vivienne westwood gown
i love the richness of this royal purple taffeta, grey flannel (?) and black satin combo

and with these platform shoes, it becomes to die for...

the platform pumps are tre chic and would look fab with anything, jeans, a minidress...
my birthday is in october for anyone who wants to buy me an early gift!

the way he does it, i can't get ENOUGH!

if you haven't heard of YOUNG LOVE yet, you might be living under a rock. but be informed, if you are a step or two behind, i'll bring you up to speed. fun dance music.
it is that plain and simple. it is quality entertainment, great beats & vocals. don't ask me why exactly today i felt compelled to share this amazing band with ya'll. but my iPod did send me a little reminder mesage this morning on the subway, and that made the day a bunch more enjoyable.
listen up and you with dance&smile TOO!

you may have heard their Dance Dance song as the intro to mTV's Dance Life. great song too!
i really don't know how one would be able to sit still while a YOUNG LOVE song is played.
get off your @$$ right now and dance!

p.s. I danced with delicious Dan Keyes and the boys at a late LESnight bar once.
jealous?

target practice

so many of my fellow bloggers who have weighed in on the press photos for Libertine's target collection haven't had good things to say. few have said nothing at all, which means MANY are dare i say it-over these target designer collections. i pray we haven't moved on to celebrity collections, like Madonna and Kylie for H&M. sigh as for Libertine, it is NOT THAT BAD. some key beautiful AFFORDABLE pieces, with their signature whimsical prints. honestly, these are the pieces that one should acquire from these collections. i do understand that the proenza schouler series was much more blantant in their signature colour mixtures and structure/shapes. libertine isn't so much know for shape as they are for pattern and print, and they glimmered on that. also their structured men's shirt's for silkscreening....maybe they still do have a bit of john galliano in them somewhere, anywho here are my picks for purchasing:
love this button-down tee, look at that cornucopia print-delish! (and the shorts ain't bad either...)

love this caplet, it is so feminine and demure, i cant wait to funk/edge it up

this dress is vintagey but yet so modern, thus a must have!

i purposely didnt really comment on patrick robinson's collection because its not very me. never the less, its beautiful and love the batik-y prints. but more for summer weather, which i have far too many clothes for that season already. but i will say i have loved what i have read from mr. robinson on high fashion being unaffordable thus unaccessible to the masses. he wants to use the rest of his career to give fashion to all a la isaac mizarhi. kudos....and bueno suerte!

*POP* shoes

many of the new pumps out there would make Mr. Andy Warhol quite proud. as a self-proclaimed sucker for all things *pop* with obscene mixes of colours, i am delighted. these contrasting portions of shoe decoration are genius and perfect, even though by definition you wouldn't think so. the bursts of sometimes bright and often quite beautiful multicolour combos are delicious.
feist your eyes on these babies
begining with some fabulously unexpectedly-updated spectators

all quite hip, brilliantly graphic
and oh so chic

the little black dress may not have seen such competitive footwear with it, EVER.
but how ideal would any of these be with any of your plain jane black dress from the back of the closet.
candy coated fashion, that'll easily bring you at least 15 seconds of fame (or strangers staring at your feet!)

oops, i am super broke

when my bank account reaches new lows, i automatically have a high fashion itch that starts innocently enough...

it starts with a vision of a breezy frock

paired with some c.dior fierce bold stack platforms

and a naughty little edgy chanel clutch (that will hold next to nothing).
there you have a dream outfit of the day when all i have is window shopping & style.com to appease me.
what do you think?

if wishes were *cold* rainy days...

as the weather again turns on us in manhattan
i found this unique button-up scarf by mike&chris,

and of course, I WANT IT!
when it supposedly snows next week, amid the worst snow we've seen this winter,
i'll be dreaming of this sophisticated neck warmer.

DIY alert: I am sure this would be super easy to make, with some comfy wool & fab buttons from the fabric store. or for a more fashionable (less functional weather-wise) version, you could use two collars of a men's dress shirt with the sleeves as the length of the scarf. i imagine it might be possible with an old turtleneck sweater as well.I'll keep you updated, if I feel adventurous enough in the near future to create a look alike

POUFY sleeves

i don't know where the obsession began in me...
(perhaps because i was a baby of the 80s)

but i love love love sleeves like this, long or short

black or obscene neon....it is perfection.
*sigh*

ms. lesile hall, inspiring the masses

http://www.lesilehall.com
the soulful-rhythming iowa gemstoned-sweater sensation has been written about in just about every high fashion mag in america. and she has definitely left her mark on the runways this season. who woulda thunk it?

marc jacobs bejewelled hats....genius!

burberry prorsum encrusted an entire cropped shirt, i love.
i guess the midwestern sensation has reversed the fashion cycle, having the meropolitan cities taken cues from her. hehe

DIY alert: get out your old bedazzler (or buy a new one- they are under $10, then you just have to buy jewels&metal fittings)and bejewel some plain things you already have. jazz up the mundane and sparkle
