exposed zippahs

so my roomie, the now-becoming-infamous A, influences my fashion and outfits FREQUENTLY if not always, even when he isn't present, he's on my shoulder as my fashion conscience. hehe and he loves exposed zippers. then much to my surprise my mother sent me a lovely spring dress that she got on sale at Target ( i think it was miss marked, the website still says its full price). I am going to follow up this post with MORE on Target because I HAVE BEEN LOVING THEM LATELY. McQueen, and now Tracy Feith. I have much to report and discuss. But here is the surprise dress from mommy, front view.

momma did good (she rarely does but maybe she's finally learning my style and edginess. (p.s. i HATE HATE HATE the girl smiling in these pictures from the target site. i will hopefully have some of me up in the dress soon.)
i completed the look with black leggings (it was raining), a black sequined sweater, black velvet circular vintage headpieces placed perfectly asymmetrically on my head, red lips and some high strappy snakeskin platform sandals. i will attempt to remember to take pictures before i go out. i am just trying to get the hang out this blogging thing that i have been obsessed with reading and am now trying to pick up 'doing' on my own. the dress is a brushed cotton, fits like a dream in the bust except after last night, i realized needs a hook&eye at the top of the AMAZING exposed zipper because it doesn't have a lock and it kept slipping a bit which was distracting when one is mingling at a party. the volume at the bottom is not too much, and yet still just enough. the fabric is funky too, my fashion designer friend called it a 'tie-dye' print that we have been seeing so much of, but i'd almost say its like smudgy spilled inky. inkily fab. hah.

so more loveliness from the target Go International collection at stores now. similar shape and that GREAT exposed zipper.

its a play on the Leger bandage dress up top and a fraction of the price. i also see hints of Theory in this, maybe i saw some gray and black dress blocking at Bergdorfs like this, again a steal. that is recession deliciousness.

i was just minding my own business walking down Prince St. last wednesday and what should happen. something out of dreams. a man with a camera approaches me just as i pass the Prada store (i was definitely lingering at the window on Broadway and gazing longingly at those new chunky shoes and vintagey dresses for this season). he says may i take your photo for a fashion sighting blog. i say of course, shyly. in my head its like a surprise party, streamers, balloons, confetti, cake&ice cream, all my friends are there and i am BEAMING. he has me step up the street more, for a better archiecture angle, the Prada buidling is beautiful from the side (and honestly I cannot think of another place on Earth, let alone Soho, where i'd rather be photographed for a fashion blog). honestly, i felt gross that day, my bf was coming later that evening, so i was freshly showered but that was about it. i was black and whited out. check out the guys site, he does a lot with fashion shows&shoots too. it was quite the honour. and hopefully the first of many...hehe

SPEAK TO ME BONES

Land of Talk will rock your world, if you check them out NOW! just the way they have rocked mine to the core. i even spent money to NOT download their album when i discover them at the wonderous listening earphones of new musik at the union sq Virgin (if you are a new yorker, having a bad day or just craving some new fresh tunes, hit them up....i have never NOT ONCE been disappointed or left empty handed..haha) i spent real money on a hard copy cd (and an additional one for my sister!) impressive for me who doesn't pay for musik much these days-bad me, i know! ok enough about the discovery/buyingand  more about the TUNES! land of talk hail from good old canada, montreal to be exact, that keeps churning out amazing artists. a harsh voiced yet at times so cheery, endearing, charming front lady and some super sweeeeet drum&bass backing up those delicious biting lyrics. they are huge in europe, more specifically the UK. they are out there touring now, but when they get back - check em out! i saw them last summer in brooklyn, and was mesmerized. check out their myspace for a new song (a sneak peek from hopefully upcoming album!?!?!)- Weighty Ghost by Wintersleep (very folky and super smooth, yummy) enjoy!

All My Friends- a super summer anthem!
