this time i won't save you

Son of a Gun- Oh Land

Heard these amazing Danes at the FILTER/Oya showcase for CMJ
and I was blown away, and you will be too soon.
My prediction is they will blow up on the European scene more this year, especially after CMJ
and then slowly but surely the USA will follow in popularity
its sugary sweet, but gritty lyrics of Indie Pop deliciousssssnesssss
its on iTunes, you can get it now and be ahead of the way
Fauna is a spectacular album
SPECTACULAR
i got my free copy and i'm dying
the gays are going to flip for this and the dance remixes that will subsequently follow
i can image it on Top 40 stations and mTV too
this is dancey
this is good
realllll good
the lead singer is hot ballerina (always good)
the drummer is hot.
listen now. this pure and simple music chemistry.
this is a great combo and you will LOVE it.
i promise *wink*

you go down down down
i fall out of love with you
this time i won't save
when you drown drown drown

Taking a picture of you...

Unzip my body
Take my heart out

been hoarding photos of Ms. Róisín Murphy
she is not only the funkiest fresh dance pop music in the world
right now
she is a fashion stylin' VISION
she has a look all her own
she reinvents herself continuously
and she is always cutting edge
everything she wears is inspiring
(and makes me green with envy)
no wonder why designers worldwide fawn over her
today begins, the 12+ days of Róisín
HOORAY!

'And if I need a rhythm
It’s gonna be to my heart I listen....'

Trullie Amazing

former model, LES DJ, artist fashion muse extraordinaire.
hip new music's cover queen
alto and raspy.
rock'n'roll at her core.
she oozes style
and i covet her haircut, desperately.
some fab photos of why this downtown hot pant clad girl is trullie
the cat's pajamas. meow.
[p.s. going to see her at glasslands tonight. yes.]

love is not pop

Change of Heart from El Perro Del Mar's new album
Love is Not Pop 2009

victoria is at it again, its beautiful. and perfect addition to my iPod this week. she is so vintage cute, with the short cut and fun duds. the tune is lykke li remniscent, but this former member of the Concretes does it better (and so much less whiny..ha). so mellow and a little jazzy. neither happy or sad, just melancholic and breezy. free show on tuesday in nyc. i will be there. will you? if you don't know about El Perro Del Mar, check out God Knows (this song was on a friends mix cd and i feel in love) and I Can't Talk About It. she is such a delight, like a trip to the candy store and leaving with a lollipop in your mouth. : )
and i found my friends the FREE download. no need for thanks, just go get it.

we will never stop, he will never stop.

and i was hoping you'd creep in...with me

Who's Have Known-Lily Allen
from It's Not Me, It's You

since apparently, the music videos i post on my blog now exclusively revolve around my feelings HAH.
i know tons of people want to KNOCK lily allen, her lyrics are really always refreshing to me. no one is really writing lyrics quite like her. she is in her 20s, she is love forelorn, the girl feels the shit of life and she sings it. this video is a nice-ish live version-other live version are kinda OBNOX-i get it why people dislike her i DO, the album version is soft and sweet but no video yet. its 3 in the morning...this is the song i am digging on. enjoy!

i didn't know where this was going..... when you kissed me

6.07.2009

i'm sorry you're going to have to go now

Peaches- Lose You
from I Feel Cream
she wore that awesome sleeved body suit at show at webster hall too.
projecting images onto her own body 'screens'
our clothing is an image of ourselves
a reflection
of you
inner depths
not yet explored
or exposed with expression
batwings of self expression
so beautiful. truly.
dance music with a message is dance music at its best.

also she is just dirty.
still.
so so so so so naughty. (not here but check out her older stuff)

and hilarious.
so so so so so funny.
male back up dancers with white nail polish.
lycra. rhinestones.
basically she is ballsy and having fun.
she is an entertainer.
i love.
enjoy.

free music isn't always illegal

Insound- the indie rock informers
http://www.insound.com/mp3/mp3s.php

Insound rocks. its my new favourite stop for free new music to decide what music i'm going to buy, dl illegally, check out locally at shows. please bookmark and check back frequently for new music as it emerges to see what you like and what you don't. thats all. just a helpful cool music tip from me. (they have band info, gear, shows, etc. on their kick ass site too)

i know you'll fade in time

Faster- Rachel Yamagata

this is a little more acoustic than the version from her album i've been jamming to on my iPod on many a subway ride this week.
i love the tone of her crackly voice and these lyrics. the song really just captures how i have been feeling lately. i am just going faster than i have ever before. i commend ms. yamagata for this story she paints with this song. so grungy edge, angry alt grrl rock. my fav. its funny i never understood her huge cult like appeal for a long time, but anthems like this really proved me wrong. so yeah i totally dig now. enjoy!

i feel what i'm feeling, i should've been feeling it all along

5.19.2009

sing the city's lullaby

Music Hall of Williamsburg
Bat for Lashes, opener: Lewis & Clarke
May 2, 2009

i went with my dear friend, AM, who not as well versed in ms. khan's greatness as i but i believe she is now a convert. i was eagerly awaiting this show. the new album has enchanted me from the get go. many of my friends went to her manhattan show, where she was dressed up and brought them to tears. well this show, in her former hometown& where her ex still does, i believe this to have made it a bit more low-key, she came out bare foot in her optical illusion, black&white striped jumper with black sheer madonna-esque fingerless gloves (another of khan's new trademarks). the stage was embezzled, as at all the shows on this tour, with rows of virgin mary statues on the monitors and other light-up religious figurines on speakers and amps, fringed lamps and tapestries surrounded the keyboard. we sat in the balcony at stage left, audience right, we had a perfect peeking view of the keyboard. her voice was haunting, magical and as close to perfect as i can guess, as transportative as the tapestry of stories her lyrics weave. she sounded just like the album (not in the bad way, the good way, that her album has captured her pure tone and performance quality) with that added live show charm. i couldn't have asked for more...other than an even longer set. she did an encore of Daniel (repeated) but more grand and lengthier than the first, perhaps to send a message to the the ex who was obviously in the audience? she opened with my new personal favourite Glass, which had less of an impact as i had hoped as the show truly built speed and strength as it continued. overall great show, can't wait for the next album and tour. below are more pics and a video from NYLON about the new album, her and natasha's aesthetic taste. its rull good, watch it. i love her.
